OsmAnd Nautical Charts is an extension designed for the OsmAnd Maps & Navigation application, offering complimentary access to detailed sea maps for offline usage. Whether you are planning a fishing trip or a maritime journey, this feature-rich sea map seamlessly serves as your dependable companion.

Nautical Charts serve as intricate graphical representations of oceans, seas, coastal regions, and rivers. These charts encompass a wealth of information including sailing routes, navigational aids, restricted zones, docking regulations, and more. Moreover, they are enriched with depth contours and nautical depth points, enriching the map with valuable data layers.

Professional mariners are required to possess official marine charts on board their vessels. Typically published by authorized agencies at a considerable cost, these charts receive regular updates to maintain accuracy. However, due to the time-consuming nature of reviewing and processing these updates, official nautical charts may not always reflect real-time data.

OsmAnd's Nautical Charts are derived from the data sourced from the OpenSeaMap project, which aims to create a comprehensive map collaboratively by users who actively utilize it. While these OpenSeaMap charts may not directly substitute official nautical charts for serious navigational purposes, recreational sailors can leverage them for orientation and route planning. This plugin does not offer full nautical navigation capabilities but serves as a valuable offline reference tool that complements other navigation software seamlessly.

Usage Instructions: It is strongly advised to download the nautical basemap to access the maps irrespective of the detailed map availability. The Nautical Charts are provided both as a standalone map and through a distinct style. To alter the style within OsmAnd, simply navigate to the 'Configure Map' option on the map screen.
